James Shaw better known as Jim Shaw, is the founder and chairman of Primestone Properties. Primestone Properties is a company who specializes in the acquisition and development of commercial real estate. The most recent project taken on by James Shaw and the Primestone Properties is the newly structured property called Yards at Noda, located in Charlotte, North Carolina. This 342-unit multi family commercial real estate property is intended to be the first newly developed, class-A apartment community in the arts district of Charlotte, North Carolina. Also, an added feature for future residents of the Yards at Noda, aside from its coveted amenities, is the apartment community’s location. The Yards at Noda is located adjacent to the future CATS commuter rail line extension, which will give residents the ease of access to the public transportation system. Other noteworthy projects that the Primestone Properties is responsible for enhancing are Milton Park – Legacy Project which is located in the north Fulton County area of Atlanta. The Barrett Walk – Legacy Project which is located in Kennesaw, Georgia is another one of Primestone Properties most successful investments. Also, the One River Place – Legacy Project which is located the Sandy Springs area of Atlanta has caught the attention of many residents to the area. One River Place is intended to be an outdoor retreat with all the convenience of being located in the heart of Atlanta. Lastly, the Vinings Mountain – Legacy Project which is located in the Vinings area of Atlanta. This 156-unit condominium tower is one of the premier high rise residences in Atlanta. Vinings Mountain offers a panoramic view of Atlanta’s skyline in addition to its upscale luxurious amenities.

The other aspect of the Primestone Properties which builds upon their success are the acquisition projects that the company invests in. The Delta Spier project for example, is a 1200 acre tract of land located outside of city limits in South Carolina. The property has been developed with water and sewer lines and is under a 30-year mixed use development agreement. The Cherokee County Airport Park is the current acquisition project located in Georgia, which spans across more than 100 acres of land. This particular project is in Phase II of development for the site plans which will provide access and frontage to I-575 from the adjacent Cherokee County Airport. Additionally, the most recent commercial real estate acquisition project from the Primestone Properties is the Reserve at Brookhaven. The Reserve at Brookhaven is a 192-unit garden style apartment home in one of the most desirable areas of Atlanta, the community of Brookhaven.

 James S. Shaw being a native of Atlanta, Georgia has built upon his brand and business acumen through his tenure in equity trading, commercial real estate, and his self made role as an investor and venture capitalist. James S. Shaw earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Oklahoma obtaining a degree in Accounting. James Shaw used his accounting degree to segway into his early career as a Certified Public Accountant with prominent company Author Andersen and Company, LLP. James Shaw then pursued his graduate studies at Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School. Jim Shaw obtained his Master of Management Degree there and was soon taken on by companies such as Duff and Phelps. Duff and Phelps is a successful and well known Commercial Morgtage-Backed Security Structured Finance Group. The work ethic and knowledge that James Shaw brought to Duff and Phelps led to his affiliation with Chicago’s international banking industry as a construction lender. Still maintaining his title as a construction lender, James Shaw uses his expertise and experience in the many avenues of commercial real estate and finance to aid in his roles with Primestone Properties.

In addition to James Shaw having an outstanding work ethic and eye for business overall, he is also quite the philanthropist in Atlanta. James Shaw’s philanthropic work includes several generous donations to the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, Emory University School of Medicine’s teaching site, and the Morehouse School of Medicine’s facility for pediatric physicians. James S. Shaw philanthropy reflects the things that he is most passionate about aside from his business endeavors. James Shaw often reaches out to a variety of organizations and causes in attempt to enhance the community around him. With his educational background preceding him, it is no surprise that James Shaw advocates the enhancement of people through proper education and having the resources necessary to build strong futures.  James S. Shaw’s contributions to Atlanta Public Schools and the Lovett School are both examples of his passion for education in addition to his other philanthropic affiliations. James Shaw is also an advocate of careers of the arts, and has given several substantial donations to the Atlanta Ballet. Lastly, James Shaw’s fondness for animals is displayed through his contributions to the North Georgia Humane Society, which he frequently offers assistance to for various helpful causes relating to animal rescue.

Jim Shaw maintains a very intense schedule with all of his business endeavors and philanthropy. Therefore, he frequently reserves time simply to enjoy family travel vacations and maintain his physical well being through sport activities. Jim Shaw is quite the outdoorsman and country man. The majority of Jim Shaw’s most pleasurable moments of leisure are spent doing things such as hunting and fishing. In addition to Jim Shaw’s love of nature inspired sports and outdoor rest and relaxation time, he is also an avid golfer and tennis player. When Jim Shaw is not on the green with friends and colleagues for golf or playing a game of doubles with his wife, he follows professional golf and professional tennis matches on television. Jim Shaw is also very much into culinary arts. He often indulges in exotic gourmet dishes while on travel with his family and also frequents noteworthy dining facilities in the city of Atlanta. James Shaw’s ability to be a well rounded man in his leisure, along with his solid educational background, his well tailored resume, and flawless track record of success has made him a living blueprint in his industry for rising leaders.
